General Rules Overview

SLT&CC is built upon a foundation of proper etiquette and sportsmanlike behavior. It is essential that Club members maintain an environment of courtesy, respect, and decorum, both on and off the courts. Disruptive or rude behavior, loud or inappropriate language, and words or actions that show disrespect to any person, are prohibited and subject to sanction by the Board of Governors.

Please note that smoking or vaping of any kind is not permitted anywhere on Club property. No dogs or other animals are allowed on any part of the grass, on the courts, in the Clubhouse, or in the Bullseye. The Club will not be responsible for the theft, loss, or damage to automobiles or property received or held on behalf of members, guests, and visitors.  A comprehensive review of club rules can be found below as well as under the Governance - Offical Documents tab.

The Clubhouse and Tennis Courts

SLT&CC adheres to a strict “all white” dress code for all members and guests when playing on any tennis court, including the hard court. The only exception to the “all white” rule applies to small colored logos on clothing, slight trim color on sneakers, and medical devices such as knee braces. Men must wear collared shirts with sleeves, boys 16 and under may wear t-shirts. Women and girls may wear sleeveless tops. Sports bras, if visible, must also be white.  Hats must be worn with the brim facing forward. Only tennis shoes may be worn on the courts. The Pro Shop offers appropriate tennis gear and is open during most playing hours.

Cell phones and electronic devices must always be on silent mode on Club grounds. Members may use their phones to text while on the porch. Phone conversations may only take place on the driveway or within a member’s vehicle. Cell phone use on the courts is not permitted at any time.

Tennis courts may be reserved on the SLT&CC website or the Clubhouse Online mobile app. Reservations may be made four days in advance. On grass courts, booking slots are fixed. On the clay and hardcourt, members have the option of selecting booking lengths of 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. Members with confirmed reservations have priority over walk-on players. Be considerate of other members and make sure to cancel a reservation if your plans change.

Members must use outside paths whenever possible and walk along the fence line to reach inner courts. Members must not walk behind a game when a point is in progress. Wait to retrieve errant balls until after a point is played. Talk quietly when standing near tennis courts that are in use. Please refrain from using salty language and be kind to your racquet, even if you just hit the worst shot of your life.

Within the Clubhouse, there are Women’s and Men’s locker rooms that are equipped with shower facilities and stocked with basic toiletries for member convenience. Both bath towels and court towels are available at the Snack Bar. Members are required to return wet towels to the hampers provided. Members who wish to have a locker, should request one from the Clubhouse Manager.

All members should review the complete set of Club rules, which can be read and downloaded here.  Members are also encouraged to read the USTA’s THE CODE: The Players’ Guide to Fair Play and the Unwritten Rules of Tennis.
